TALKIES- A COLLECTIVE MEMORY
It has been my intention to build a comprehensive âcollective memoryâ on cinema halls and I think now is the best time to execute it. Those who have been following my work will know about my âDear Cinemaâ project. If not, you can see it in my website .
As an extension to this project, I would now like to collect memories from people in the form of audio, photos and videos and build it into a larger cultural archive. Your inputs will help me map out a bigger narrative that will explore different aspects of cinema.
WHO CAN BE A PART OF THIS PROJECT?
If you have watched a film in a single screen theatre of Tamilnadu. You can be part of this project

WHAT WE WILL BE DISCUSSING?
Just about anything. Letâs just have a conversation about your memories of watching movies inside SINGLE SCREEN cinema halls.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Memories shared by individuals trickle into an ethnographic documentation. By discussing your time spent inside SINGLE SCREEN cinema halls, we will be able to explore undocumented aspects of cinema, right from what people ate inside cinema halls to the politics of the state.
